🎶 High Cotton song analysis
The protagonist recalls his memories of growing up on a farm, where he and his family worked hard to care for their land and crops. Despite the hard times, he remembers his parents' love and hard work, and how Sunday church meetings were a break from the work week. The phrase "walkin' in high cotton" means that they lived well, despite the hardships. Leaving home was difficult, but the memories and lessons he learned from it have stayed with him.
