The song was produced by Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy, and written by both producers and all members of the band. "Hold On" was a huge hit, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and number five in the United Kingdom. It even reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. The song's chorus was later used and performed by Pharrell on Jay-Z's "Blue Magic" in 2007, and it was also sampled in the Terminator X song "Buck Whylin'". En Vogue gave an electrifying performance of "Hold On" with Alicia Keys at the 2008 BET Awards.
