Alabama - Short Biography

Alabama is an American country music group, first formed under the name Wildcountry. The band was formed in the state of Alabama in 1969 by Randy Owen and his cousin Teddy Gentry. Later, another cousin, Jeff Cook, joined the duo. In 1977, the group was renamed Alabama. The group had its greatest success in the 1980s, with over 25 number ones on the charts. Their first hit single on RCA Records was "Tennessee River".

The song was a hit, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in June 1993. The lyrics tell the story of a couple honeymooning in their own hometown, and how they can find love and romance in the familiar surroundings they grew up in.
