The Beach Boys - Short Biography

The Beach Boys are an American rock band that formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California. The original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and their friend Al Jardine. The band is known for its vocal harmonies, teenage-themed lyrics and musical ingenuity. They are one of the most influential bands of the rock era, and one of the few American rock bands to have maintained its commercial position during the British Invasion. From the beginning, Brian Wilson was the band's composer, arranger, producer and de facto leader.

Written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love, the lyrics are autobiographical and describe the band's reaction to their newfound fame and success, as well as their desire to find new places "where the kids are hip." The song was released as a single on May 11, 1964 with "Don't Worry Baby" on the B-side. The song reflects the band's restless energy and desire to push the boundaries of the status quo.
