The song "I Get Lonely" by American singer Janet Jackson is taken from her sixth studio album "The Velvet Rope" (1997). It was written by Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and Rene Elizondo Jr. then Jackson's husband, and released by Virgin Records on February 24, 1998, as the third single from the album. The track deviates from Jackson's characteristic style, with an R&B and soulful atmosphere. It expresses the loneliness and longing for a distant lover. A remixed version of the song features the American R&B group Blackstreet.
