- "I'll Be There for You" is a song by the American rock band The Rembrandts, known for being the shortened theme song for the 1994 television series Friends.
- The song was released as a single in 1995 from the band's third studio album, LP.
- It was written by David Crane, Marta Kauffman, Michael Skloff, Allee Willis, Phil Solem and Danny Wilde, and produced by Kevin Bright, David Crane and Marta Kauffman.
- The theme for the series, which lasts less than a minute, was later recorded as a three-minute pop song.
- After Billy Shears, a radio DJ and program director in Nashville, looped the short version into a fairly long song and played it on his radio station WLAC Star 106, it became so popular that they had to re-record it.
- Phil Solem says, "Our label said we had to finish the song and record it. There was no way around it.
- The song was added to the Rembrandts' LP album at the last minute.
- Originally, it was not supposed to be released as a single, a common practice among record companies at the time, for fear of lowering the album's sales.
