Alicia Keys wrote "If I Ain't Got You" after hearing the song "A House Is Not a Home" by Luther Vandross. She wanted her song to have the same feeling as Vandross' song. The song is about a love relationship that is more important than all the riches in the world. "If I Ain't Got You" was released in February 2004 as the second single from her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys. The song reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. In March 2007, "If I Ain't Got You" was voted "Best RandB Song of All Time" by Blender magazine.
