Alabama - Short Biography

Alabama is an American country music group, first formed under the name Wildcountry. The band was formed in the state of Alabama in 1969 by Randy Owen and his cousin Teddy Gentry. Later, another cousin, Jeff Cook, joined the duo. In 1977, the group was renamed Alabama. The group had its greatest success in the 1980s, with over 25 number ones on the charts. Their first hit single on RCA Records was "Tennessee River".

It was released as the second single from their album Southern Star in February 1989. Its lyrics express the longing for a loved one and the joy of being together.
