If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band) is a classic country music hit written by Murry Kellum and Dan Mitchell. It was recorded by the famous American country music band Alabama and released in July 1984 as the B-side of their third single from the album Roll On. Although "I'm Not That Way Anymore" was released as the A-side, radio programmers preferred the B-side, and the song became Alabama's fourteenth consecutive number one single on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart. The song celebrates fiddle music and its importance in creating an authentic country sound.
