- Je l'aime à mourir is a song from his album Les Chemins de traverse, released in 1979.
- The album sold over 600,000 copies in France and the song Je l'aime à mourir sold over 700,000 copies, making it Cabrel's best-selling single.
- The song was adapted into Spanish under the title La quiero a morir, which Cabrel himself sang (included in the album Algo más de amor, released in 1979).
- The song was then covered by many Latin American artists with great success.
- A version combining the French and Spanish versions was sung by Shakira in 2011 during her world tour The Sun Comes Out and was released as a studio single on December 5, 2011.
- The single reached number 3 in France and number 2 in Belgium.
