Radiohead - Short Biography

- Formed in 1985, it is composed of Thom Yorke, brothers Jonny Greenwood and Colin Greenwood (bass), Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway (drums).
- The band is considered one of the most innovative and influential rock bands of the 1990s and 2000s.
- Radiohead's work ranks high in listener polls and critics' lists of the best music of the 1990s and 2000s.
- The band has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

- "Karma Police" is the second single from Radiohead's album OK Computer.
- The song has become one of Radiohead's biggest hits, along with "Creep".
- The song was ranked 75th best British song of all time by XFM in 2010.
- The song became the anthem of alternative radio and was included in the compilation Now That's What I Call Music!
- The single reached number eight in the UK.
- Similarities between the piano riffs on "Karma Police" and the Beatles' "Sexy Sadie" are often noted.
- The band apparently recognized the similarity, although the rest of each of the two songs is quite different.
- When they recorded OK Computer, they were listening to the latest Beatles albums, among other music (e.g. Miles Davis, DJ Shadow and Ennio Morricone), for inspiration.
- The lyrics are inspired by the book 1984 by George Orwell, the "Karma Police" would be a kind of thought police.
- "Karma Police", like several other songs that would make up OK Computer, was played live in 1996, when the band briefly opened for Alanis Morissette on her U.S. tour.
