- "Je suis malade" is a song by Serge Lama, released in 1973 as a single and on the album Je suis malade.
- Written by Serge Lama on a melody composed by Alice Dona, the song has become the most emblematic title of the repertoire of Serge Lama that he regularly performs on stage.
- The song Je suis malade is inspired by a real heartbreak experienced by Serge Lama, the story of a long-standing secret relationship.
- In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love is a certainty, but neither of them is free: he married Daisy Brun, his press agent, in 1968 and she is married and has a young son. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to find their freedom, but Michèle hesitates and ends up fleeing to Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without success, until the day he confides in his friend Alice Dona: "this story hurts me, it makes me sick".
- Back home at the piano, Alice Dona composes in a few hours a melody, which she hastens to play to the singer. It is a revelation and Serge Lama writes almost all the text in one go.
