"Summertime Sadness" is a song by American artist Lana Del Rey, from her debut studio album, Born to Die (2012). The song was written by Del Rey and Rick Nowels, and produced by Nowels. "Summertime Sadness" is a pop ballad with new wave and dream pop influences, about despair in love and longing.

Released on June 22, 2012 as the fourth single from the album, it was a commercial success, reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and number one in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. In France, the song was certified as a diamond disc in March 2013.

The music video, directed by Yoann Lemoine, features Lana Del Rey and an imaginary lover in various romantic and sad scenes. The video premiered on June 18, 2012 on MTV.
