- Wham! was an English pop duo consisting of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.
- They were formed in 1981 in Bushey.
- They became one of the most commercially successful pop acts of the 1980s, selling more than 30 million certified records worldwide from 1982 to 1986.
- Their hits included "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Last Christmas".
- George Michael went on to have a very successful solo career after the duo split up.

- It was written and produced by George Michael, and has been covered by many artists since its initial release.
- Upon its initial release in 1984, "Last Christmas" spent five consecutive weeks at #2 on the UK Singles Chart.
- After numerous chart appearances in subsequent years, including three additional weeks at #2, the song finally reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart on New Year's Day 2021, over 36 years after its initial release.
- In doing so, it became the duo's fifth UK number one single and surpassed Tony Christie's record for the longest time a single has taken to reach number one.
