"Loca" is a Latin pop and merengue song originally performed by Dominican singer El Cata. However, it gained immense popularity when Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira covered it for her ninth studio album, "Sale el Sol." Shakira's version features Dominican rapper El Cata in the Spanish version and British rapper Dizzee Rascal in the English version. The song, written and produced by Shakira, with the help of Edward Bello, Armando Pérez and Dylan Mills, describes Shakira's intense infatuation with a man. In August 2014, a U.S. District Judge ruled that "Loca" was indirectly plagiarized from a mid-1990s song called "Loca con su Tiguere" by Dominican songwriter Ramon "Arias" Vasquez, resulting in a copyright infringement lawsuit. The case was eventually dismissed after it was established that Vasquez had fabricated the evidence he presented in court.
