- Foreigner is a British-American rock band formed in 1976 by Mick Jones, Ian McDonald and Lou Gramm.
- Their self-titled debut album went five times platinum in the U.S. and reached the top 10 in Canada, Australia and North America.
- Double Vision was even more successful, reaching #3 in North America with two hit singles.
- Head Games (1979) reached number five in North America, with two top 20 singles.
- 4 (1981) reached #1 (for 10 weeks) in the U.S. and #2 in Canada, becoming Foreigner's most popular album outside North America.
- 1982: Release of the album Records, which sold 7 million copies in the United States.
- 1984: The single "I Want to Know What Love Is" topped the charts in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
- Inside Information (1987) saw a sharp decline in sales, reaching the Top 10 in only a few European countries.
- Unusual Heat (1991), Mr. Moonlight (1994) and Can't Slow Down (2009) were not big commercial successes.
- Foreigner is one of the best-selling bands of all time, with worldwide sales of over 80 million records.

"Love Has Taken Its Toll" is taken from Double Vision, the second studio album by the British-American rock band Foreigner, released on June 20, 1978 by Atlantic Records. The album was recorded between December 1977 and March 1978 and was co-produced by Keith Olsen. Interestingly, this was the last recording with bassist Ed Gagliardi, who was later replaced by Rick Wills.
