J. Geils Band - Short Biography

- Formed in 1967 in Worcester, Massachusetts, led by guitarist John "J." Geils

- Original members included vocalist Peter Wolf, harmonica player and saxophonist Richard "Magic Dick" Salwitz, drummer Stephen Bladd, vocalist and keyboardist Seth Justman and bassist Danny Klein.

- They played R&B-influenced blues rock in the 1970s and enjoyed commercial success before shifting to a more mainstream, radio-friendly sound in the early 1980s.

- Wolf and Justman were the primary songwriters and wrote original compositions under the pseudonym Juke Joint Jimmy.

- After Wolf left in 1983, the group released another album in 1984 with Justman on vocals before breaking up in 1985.
