The Gibb brothers, Barry, Robin and Maurice, formed the group in 1958 and specialized in pop music in the late 1960s and early 1970s. During the disco era of the mid-to-late 1970s, they became prominent artists, noted for their three-part harmonies and Robin's clear vibrato. "Night Fever" is a song written and performed by the Bee Gees. It was first released on the soundtrack of the movie Saturday Night Fever on RSO Records. The single debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #76, then climbed 44 positions to #32. It went on to gain 32-17-8-5-2-1 and stayed at #1 for 8 weeks, spending a total of 13 weeks in the top 10. For the first five weeks that "Night Fever" was in first place, "Stayin' Alive" was in second place. In addition, for one week in March, Bee Gees songs occupied five of the top spots on the Hot 100, and four of the top five spots, with "Night Fever" at number one. The B-side of "Night Fever" was a live version of "Down the Road" from their 1977 album, Here at Last... Bee Gees... Live.
