Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1985 and signed to Geffen Records in 1986. The original lineup, consisting of vocalist Axl Rose, guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Steven Adler, has expanded to include current members Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer, Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese. The band has released six studio albums and numerous chart-topping singles, establishing the band as one of the most popular hard rock bands of all time.

It was written by Axl Rose, the band's lead singer, and was released in February 1992 as the third single from their third studio album, Use Your Illusion I (1991). The song peaked at number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, making it the longest-running song to enter the top ten on the chart at the time of its release. It currently holds the record for the fourth longest song to enter the Hot 100. In addition, "November Rain" reached #2 on the Portuguese Singles Chart, #4 on the UK Singles Chart, and entered the top 10 on several other music charts around the world.
