The album includes the Grammy-nominated singles "Love Is in Control" and "State of Independence". Although pregnant with her daughter Amanda Grace during the recording, Donna Summer managed to deliver stunning performances on the album. To celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2022, the album was reissued with an unreleased track that was originally the B-side of "Love Is in Control".
