"Runaway Child, Running Wild" is a 1969 hit by the Temptations, released on the Gordy (Motown) label and produced by Norman Whitfield. The song is the second track on the iconic Cloud Nine album and is considered one of the band's signature "psychedelic soul" tracks. The song was co-written by Whitfield and former Motown artist Barrett Strong, and it was the second time the two collaborated on a Temptations track. The song tells the story of a child who has run away from home and embarks on a wild and dangerous journey.
