Eric Patrick Clapton is a legendary English rock and blues guitarist, singer and songwriter, widely regarded as one of the most famous and influential guitarists in rock music. Clapton has been recognized by Rolling Stone as the second greatest guitarist of all time. He was also ranked fourth on Gibson's "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time" list and fifth on Time magazine's "The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players" list.

Running On Fait is taken from Eric Clapton's eleventh solo studio album, Journeyman, released in 1989. This album was billed as a return to great form for Clapton, who had recently found sobriety. The album has a 1980s electronic sound, but also includes blues songs such as "Before You Accuse Me," "Running On Faith" and "Hard Times." The single "Bad Love" was taken from the album and reached #1 on the U.S. rock album chart. It won a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance in 1990. The single "Pretending" had also reached #1 on the rock album chart the previous year, staying at the top for five weeks.
