In the context of the Cold War, Sting denounces the dangers of the doctrine of mutually assured destruction between the United States and the USSR, and their respective allies, NATO and the Warsaw Pact.
-The song becomes a success in France, where it remains at number 2 for three weeks and in the top 50 for 19 weeks.
It is the 636th best-selling single in France.
