The Beach Boys - Short Biography

The Beach Boys are an American rock band that formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California. The original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and their friend Al Jardine. The band is known for its vocal harmonies, teenage-themed lyrics and musical ingenuity. They are one of the most influential bands of the rock era, and one of the few American rock bands to have maintained its commercial position during the British Invasion. From the beginning, Brian Wilson was the band's composer, arranger, producer and de facto leader.

"Sail On, Sailor" is a well-known song by the American rock band The Beach Boys, from their 1973 album "Holland". The song was written primarily by Van Dyke Parks and Brian Wilson, with Ray Kennedy, Tandyn Almer and Jack Rieley. This song is unique in that it is sung by Blondie Chaplin, unlike most of the band's known songs which are sung by Mike Love, Brian Wilson or Carl Wilson. Although not one of their biggest hits, "Sail On, Sailor" was released as a single in 1973, along with "Only With You", and reached #79 on the US singles chart. A 1975 reissue of the song peaked higher at #49.
