David Essex - Short Biography


- Essex was born David Albert Cook in London, England on July 23, 1947.

- As a teenager, Essex appeared in several West End musicals, including Hair, Godspell and Oliver!

- Essex's first single, "And I Love You So," was released in 1971 and reached the Top 10 in the UK.

- In 1973, Essex had their biggest hit with "Rock On", which reached #1 in the UK and #5 in the US.

- Essex released 19 Top 40 singles in the UK and 16 Top 40 albums.

- In addition to his musical career, Essex also had a long career as an actor
