What is Stop the Cavalry about?
🎶 Stop the Cavalry song analysis
The lyrics are about a man in the army who is tired of fighting and would like to be home with his loved ones. He talks about how cold and hard it is where he is, and about a visit from "Mr. Churchill" who doesn't seem to understand the difficulty of the situation. The chorus repeats the lines "Can you stop the cavalry? / I've had to fight, almost every night, all through these centuries," suggesting that the speaker has been in many wars throughout history. The last verse says that if he could be elected, he would stop the cavalry, meaning that he would end the war.
