This song tells the story of a small village where the curfew is enforced and the streets are empty. The protagonist, a young man, is chosen to be the hangman and he feels scared and sad for the person he has to execute. As the day comes, the papist (religious person) is led to the gallows and the hangman realizes that the person he is about to hang is his own younger brother. Distraught and full of regret, the hangman cries out for God to forgive him for carrying out this act in His name.
