Nirvana - Short Biography

Nirvana was an American rock band founded in 1987 in Aberdeen, Washington. It consisted of singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic, who were joined by drummer Dave Grohl in 1990. Their music mixed elements of punk rock and alternative rock, and their 1991 album Nevermind was a major commercial success. The band marked the beginning of the grunge scene and quickly established themselves as one of the most popular bands of the decade. After the critical and commercial success of their 1993 album In Utero, Cobain committed suicide in April 1994. The remaining members of the band broke up shortly after.
