"The Prettiest Star" is a love song by English musician David Bowie, released on March 6, 1970 by Mercury Records. The song was recorded in January 1970 at Trident Studios in London, with Marc Bolan on guitar. The song was supposed to be a tribute to Bowie's future wife Angie, but the single failed to chart. Years later, Bowie re-recorded the track for his 1973 album Aladdin Sane. The reworked version featured a more glam rock influenced sound and was well received. Mick Ronson recreated Bolan's guitar part almost note for note. Although the song was a flop on its original release, "The Prettiest Star" is now considered a classic by David Bowie fans.
