Barbra Streisand - Short Biography

Barbra Streisand is an American singer, actress, producer, director and businesswoman. She was born on April 24, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in a modest Jewish neighborhood. She began singing and acting at the age of nine.

At the age of 15, Streisand made her Broadway debut as the young actress in the musical I Can Get It For You Wholesale. She went on to win two Tonys, a Grammy and an Emmy for her performances.

Streisand entered the film industry at the age of 21 and won an Oscar for her performance in the 1968 film Funny Girl. Since then, she has appeared in a series of films, including A Star Is Born (1976), The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996) and Meet the Fockers (2004).

Streisand has also recorded hit albums, including The Barbra Streisand Album (1963), My Name Is Barbra (1965) and The Way We Were (1974). She has become one of the most prolific female artists in the music industry and has won numerous awards, including 10 Grammy Awards and 5 Emmy Awards.

In addition to her artistic career, Streisand is also a prolific businesswoman and philanthropist. She is one of the few celebrities to have launched her own line of beauty products, which was launched in 2002. She also founded the Streisand Foundation in 1986 to support social and political causes.

- "The Way We Were" is a song by American singer Barbra Streisand from her fifteenth studio album of the same name.

- It was released as the first single from the album on September 27, 1973 by Columbia Records.

- The 7-inch single was distributed in two different formats, the standard edition including the B-side "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?"; the Mexico version included an instrumental B-side instead.

- The song was written by Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman and Marvin Hamlisch, while production was handled solely by Marty Paich.

- The Way We Were" was specially produced for the record, along with three other tracks, including the future single "All in Love Is Fair" (1974).
