- Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper Thornton is an American singer, songwriter, actress and activist.
- Her career has spanned over 40 years.
- Her 1983 album She's So Unusual was the first album by a female artist to reach the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 four times.
- Her success continued with the soundtrack to the film The Goonies (1985) and her second album True Colors (1986).
- In 1989, she had a hit with "I Drove All Night".

- It is the second single from the album She's So Unusual and was released on January 27, 1984 by Epic Records.
- The song was written by Cyndi Lauper and Rob Hyman, with production by Rick Chertoff.
- It was also covered by jazz trumpeter Miles Davis on his album You're Under Arrest, and live on stage in the box set The Complete Miles Davis at Montreux.
- After the breakup of her band (Blue Angel) and a period of rest, Cyndi Lauper found a different musical direction and decided to pursue a solo career.
- "Time After Time" was a huge success in Japan, as mentioned in the famous manga "Nana" but also "Dengeki Daisy".
- It was released on March 27, 1984 in the United States and became a worldwide hit.
- The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 53 in the week of April 14, 1984.
- It became Lauper's first number one on June 9, 1984 and stayed there for two weeks, spending a total of 20 weeks on the chart.
