Today Is Your Day is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Shania Twain. It was written by Twain herself and co-produced by David Foster and Nathan Chapman. The song was released on June 12, 2011 by Mercury Nashville Records as a single to accompany her documentary television series Why Not? With Shania Twain (2011). The single marked Twain's first release in over six years and the only release of a song written and composed entirely by the artist in twelve years. The track is a midtempo ballad in the country pop genre with lyrics that concern personal uplift. It is the first time in 18 years that Twain did not have the participation of her ex-husband Robert John "Mutt" Lange, and only her second self-penned song after Leaving Is the Only Way Out from her second studio album The Woman In Me (1995). Twain performed the song on her Rock This Country tour and in an acoustic version for her Still the One residency.
