Alabama - Short Biography

Alabama is an American country music group, first formed under the name Wildcountry. The band was formed in the state of Alabama in 1969 by Randy Owen and his cousin Teddy Gentry. Later, another cousin, Jeff Cook, joined the duo. In 1977, the group was renamed Alabama. The group had its greatest success in the 1980s, with over 25 number ones on the charts. Their first hit single on RCA Records was "Tennessee River".

"Touch Me When We're Dancing" is a beautiful song written by Terry Skinner, J.L. Wallace and Ken Bell. Muscle Shoals' session band Bama was the first to release it as a single in 1979, which peaked at #42 on the Billboard Easy Listening and #86 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was later recorded by the Carpenters in 1981 for their album "Made in America," furthering its popularity. Country music artists Mickey Gilley and Charly McClain recorded it in 1984 for their duets album "It Takes Believers", and in 1986 it was recorded by the band Alabama.
