Robert Clark Seger, better known as Bob Seger, is a beloved American singer, songwriter and musician. He began his career as Bob Seger and the Last Heard in the 1960s and gained local popularity. In 1973, he formed the Silver Bullet Band, which quickly achieved national success. Seger's 1976 album Live Bullet was recorded live with the Silver Bullet Band at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan, and is a testament to his musical prowess. Throughout his career, Seger collaborated extensively with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which appeared on many hit singles and albums.

"Trying to Live My Life Without You" is a soul song written by Eugene Frank Williams and originally performed by Otis Clay. The song reached number 102 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Chart in early 1973 and was performed by Clay on Soul Train on February 17 of that year. Since its release, the song has been covered by several other artists, including Bob Seger on his 1981 album Nine Tonight and Dr. Feelgood on their 1982 album Fast Women & Slow Horses. Brinsley Schwarz also covered it and it was played live by the California Honeydrops. The song is about trying to move on after a broken relationship and the difficulties that come with it.
