The song features uncredited vocals from the British reggae band Musical Youth, who had already reached the top 10 in the United States with their song "Pass the Dutchie." "Unconditional Love" was released by Mercury Records in August 1983 and became a popular hit among fans of Donna Summer's signature disco sound.
