They know that their partner is using them and playing tricks on them, but they still like it. The protagonist knows that their partner doesn't really need them, but they will always come back to them. The protagonist can see through the tricks, but they keep it to themselves because they know that if they don't, their partner will just use somebody else. The chorus repeats that the protagonist wants their partner to keep using them and not use somebody else.
