The protagonist of the song is expressing that he is tired and cannot stand being awake because everything around him is irritating. He feels like he has a long journey ahead of him where he will have nothing to say to anyone and his mind is filled with unanswered questions and things that he and his partner never said to each other. He has made a pact with the devil's representatives to help him forget what once was and believes that his partner can never hurt him again, at least not in this lifetime. In the chorus, the protagonist acknowledges that he is not very good at expressing himself and this small amount of understanding between him and his partner is not enough. They are either too different or too similar, and a deep divide remains between them. The outro reminds us that the protagonist is barely able to express himself and this small understanding is simply not enough. Big words can be tiny and clever sentences can simply mean "no".
