Green Day is an American punk rock band formed in 1986 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt. After releasing their debut album “39/Smooth” in 1990, the band gained popularity with their third album “Dookie” in 1994, which featured hit songs such as “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around”. Over the years, Green Day has continued to produce successful albums, including “American Idiot” in 2004, which was later turned into a successful Broadway musical. In addition to their musical achievements, the band has also been recognized for their activism and social commentary, particularly in their opposition to the Iraq war.
