What is Dry County about?
🎶 Dry County song analysis
The protagonist lives in a "dry county" where the promise of a better life has been shattered and there is no hope of escape. Many people have come here in search of a better life, but have found only poverty and despair. The protagonist prays for holy water to wash away the sins of the county, but the only thing he finds is a harsh reality with no escape. He wishes for a quick death, because the pain of living in this place is too much to bear.

Bon Jovi released "Dry County" on March 7, 1994, as the sixth and final single from their fifth studio album, Keep the Faith (1992). The song was written by Jon Bon Jovi and remixed especially for the single by Bob Clearmountain. It is the longest song Bon Jovi has ever recorded on a studio album, lasting 9 minutes and 52 seconds. The single reached number nine on the UK Singles Chart and number six in Finland. It was not released in the United States or Canada, although a modified six-minute version is available in some parts of Europe. In the UK, the single was released as a two-disc digipack, including the full remix as well as live versions of "Blood Money" and "Stranger in this Town". The second disc contains a live version of "Dry County" as well as a cover of "It's Only Rock & Roll" and "Waltzing Mathilda" by the Rolling Stones, sung by the band's drummer, Tico Torres.
