- Fleetwood Mac is a British-American rock band, formed in London in 1967.
- The band was founded by guitarist Peter Green, drummer Mick Fleetwood and guitarist Jeremy Spencer.
- Bassist John McVie joined the band for their self-titled debut album.
- Danny Kirwan became the third guitarist in 1968.
- Keyboardist and vocalist Christine Perfect joined the band in 1970, under the name Christine McVie.

Vocalist and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham wrote "Go Your Own Way" in 1976, while Fleetwood Mac was on tour in Europe. The rest of the band was in a tumultuous romantic relationship, and Buckingham wrote the song in reaction to that. The song was recorded for the album Rumours, which was released in 1977. Since its release, "Go Your Own Way" has become one of Fleetwood Mac's most popular songs, and it is often considered one of their best songs.
