The Black Eyed Peas - Short Biography

Black Eyed Peas is an American musical group from Los Angeles formed in 1995, and composed of three rappers. Fergie replaced Kim Hill in the group in 2002. Initially an alternative hip-hop group, they turned into a pop-rap group. It wasn't until their third album, "Elephunk", in 2003, that they reached record sales.

"Pump It" is an energetic and catchy song recorded by the popular American band The Black Eyed Peas for their fourth studio album "Monkey Business" in 2005. The song was written by band members Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap and Fergie, and was produced by Will.i.am. The song is largely based on the music of the influential 1962 surf version of Dick Dale's "Misirlou", famously featured in Quentin Tarantino's 1994 film "Pulp Fiction". Although the original songwriters are Nicholas Roubanis and Thomas Van Musser, the title "Misirlou" is credited in the song. "Pump It" is the fourth and final single from "Monkey Business", released on January 16, 2006 by A&M Records and Interscope Records.
