The singer encourages the child to feel what he feels, for he can never be wrong, and invites him to take a journey with the sandman. The singer depicts a magical world filled with chocolate-covered roofs, candy cars, rainbow rivers of sugar, marshmallow books, strawberries, ice cream snowmen, fields of flowers and fish in the sky. Despite the rain outside, the child is safe and warm with the sandman. The song ends with the singer inviting the child to go to sleep with the sandman.
