Lynyrd Skynyrd - Short Biography


- Lynyrd Skynyrd was formed in 1964 under the name My Backyard.

- The band changed names and lineups until 1969, when it changed to "Lynyrd Skynyrd".

- In 1973, the band included Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, Billy Powell and Ed King.

- Artimus Pyle joined them in 1974 and Steve Gaines in 1976.

- The band popularized the southern rock genre with songs like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird" before a plane crash in 1977 tragically killed three members and seriously injured the others.

Take Your Time is a song by the American Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was recorded in 1973 and was the B-side to two other singles. It was not featured on any album until 1987 but it is now featured on a compilation album called Legend and on the re-release of Second Helping with bonus tracks. The song was written by two members of the band, Ronnie Van Zant and Ed King.
