The Doors were an influential and controversial American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles. Led by singer Jim Morrison and featuring keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore, the band played a major role in the counterculture of the 1960s.

"Unhappy Girl" appears on "Strange Days", the second studio album by the American rock band The Doors. Released on September 25, 1967 by Elektra Records. The band worked on both new and old material to create this album after the success of their self-titled debut. "Strange Days" reached number three on the Billboard 200 in the United States and was certified platinum by the RIAA. The album includes two hit singles, "People are Strange" and "Love Me Two Times," both of which reached the top 30 on the charts.
