"Indian Summer" appears on the album "Morrison Hotel", released on February 9, 1970 by the American rock band The Doors and Elektra Records. Produced after their previous album "The Soft Parade", which used brass and string arrangements, this album saw the band return to their blues rock style. The album was recorded in November 1969 at Elektra Sound Recorders in Los Angeles and is divided into two separately titled sides: "Hard Rock Café" and "Morrison Hotel". Lonnie Mack and Ray Neapolitan participated in the recording as session bassists. The album is widely regarded as a return to form for the band.
