The Doors - Short Biography

The Doors were an influential and controversial American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles. Led by singer Jim Morrison and featuring keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore, the band played a major role in the counterculture of the 1960s.

This song is the title track of the album "Waiting for the Sun", third studio album of the American rock band The Doors. It was recorded in 11 tracks between January and May 1968 at TTG Studios in Los Angeles. The album was released on July 3, 1968 by Elektra Records and became the band's only number one album, including their second number one single in the United States, "Hello, I Love You". The first single from the album, "The Unknown Soldier," reached number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also became the band's first hit in the UK, where it peaked at #16.
