Roxette - Short Biography

- Roxette is a Swedish pop rock duo formed in 1986 by Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle.
- Their second successful album Look Sharp! was released in the late 1980s.
- Their third album Joyride was as successful as its predecessor.
- Roxette scored nineteen UK Top 40 hits and four US number ones with "The Look", "Listen to Your Heart", "It Must Have Been Love" and "Joyride".
- Other hits include "Dressed for Success", "Dangerous" and "Fading Like a Flower".

- It Must Have Been Love is a song by Swedish pop rock duo Roxette written and composed by one of its members, Per Gessle. Roxette recorded four studio versions of the song.
The first version of the song was released as a single in Sweden just before Christmas 1987 under the title It Must Have Been Love (Christmas for the Broken Hearted), where it reached number four on the Swedish charts.
- In 1990, the duo, whose fame had become worldwide, recorded a new version of the song, without reference to Christmas, for the soundtrack of the film Pretty Woman. Released as a single on May 20, 1990, the song was an international success, reaching the top of the charts in several countries.
- In 1992, while the band was on tour, they recorded a third version of the song with a country music influence in a studio in Los Angeles. This version was released on the album Tourism in August 1992.
- Finally, in 1996, an adaptation in Spanish under the title No sé si es amor, with lyrics by Luis G. Escolar, was released on the album Baladas en español.
- The song won the BMI Film and TV Awards in 1991.
- In 2005, the song won the BMI London Awards for 4,000,000 radio and television plays.
- In 2014, the song won the BMI London Awards for 5,000,000 listens.
