The Doors - Short Biography

The Doors were an influential and controversial American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles. Led by singer Jim Morrison and featuring keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore, the band played a major role in the counterculture of the 1960s.

"Paris Blues" appears on the album "The Soft Parade", released on July 18, 1969 by the American rock band The Doors on Elektra Records. This album was recorded after an exhausting tour, during which the band had little time to compose new material. The producer Paul A. Rothchild suggested a departure from the band's first three albums by incorporating horns and strings, supplied by Paul Harris, to create a more complete sound. Singer Jim Morrison was dealing with personal problems and focusing more on his poetry at this time, leading guitarist Robby Krieger to play a larger role in the songwriting process.
