The Doors - Short Biography

The Doors were an influential and controversial American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles. Led by singer Jim Morrison and featuring keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore, the band played a major role in the counterculture of the 1960s.

The song "The Unknown Soldier" is the first single from the album "Waiting for the Sun" by The Doors, released in 1968. It was released in March of the same year by Elektra Records. A 16mm promotional film featuring the band, directed and produced by Edward Dephoure and Mark Abramson, was also released for the song. "The Unknown Soldier" became the band's fourth top 40 hit in the U.S., peaking at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song remained on the Billboard Hot 100 list for eight weeks.
